We had the morning at the beach, which is a few hundred metres from our hotel. We rented a body board and Will caught heaps of good waves. There were many fishing boats on the water too, basically big wooden bowls large enough to carry two people and their nets. We watched as one boat set it's net just past the sure, before dragging it up the beach. The first time I took the pictures below, but they beckoned me to help on the second and third times. Each time we pulled in hundreds of fish, most were 3 to 6 inches long, plus a few bigger ones. There were also lots of jellyfish of interesting shapes and sizes. Sadly, there was a lot of plastic too, we saw a lot whilst surfing too which is really saddening. The majority of locals seem to treat the ocean as a bin and the scale of how much is dumped each year is staggering... At least it was good to see lots of fish still being caught.
good surf. Koh Lanta was so/too calm.
