World Famous (in New Zealand)

Nelson, like much of the rest of the country, likes to claim that all good things from it are "World famous in New Zealand."

It would also appear that the city (of just 50,000 people!) has two new(ish) people who are also trying to make an over-zealous stake on the place. Due to our Tri club (of which we are now joint Secretary) founder being high up in the local press, we have regularly found our way onto the pages of the Nelson Mail, in between stories of Grandma losing her hair-clip and a sudden influx of jelly beans from an unknown origin....

On our first day in New Zealand, my new boss took Bernie and I to the (World Famous) Nelson market and Bernie began her love affair with Pic.... well his peanut butter.! Each week we would have to purchase a new jar because Bernie had bosched the lot! We now buy 1kg jars of the stuff and go for regular refills! A a result, Pic put us on his (World Famaous) website: http://www.reallygood.co.nz/Buy%20Peanut%20Butter.htm

We are still buzzing about getting into the World Champs and hunting out cheap flights. We'll stay in appartments with the other 10 Nelson Tri Club memebers who made it in - not a bad return for a City of this size...

If anybody is feeling a bit heavy in the pocket, I want a NZ silver fern mankini for the event, much like the fluoro version sported by Borat... I'm bound to win wearing that...

Alas, I've now become a bit of a techno geek (technology not music for a change) and drool over bike magazines with pictures of carbon frames and Zipp wheels.... dont get me started!! Carbon will shave minutes off (people are also trying to talk me into shaving my legs - I dont joke!) a race and I quite like racing cars around the vinyards surrounding Nelson - more carbon = more speed...

The timing of the whole event is also quite tasty - 4 months of hard training, 5 days in the self-styled "Surfers Paradise" laping up the Triathlon Festival (racing on the 4th day), 2 days back in NZ before flying out to the UK for 3 weeks of debauchery... BRING IT ON!!!

Thanks for all the well-wishes, but please give generously to the "World Famous Mankini Fund"!!
