Can you Hackett?!

We can! In just 20 minutes (in our old Mini), we can be tramping into native bush along the Hackett track. This undulating path winds its way along a crystal clear river and over swing bridges when there is no more bank left to traverse.

As usual, pictures dont do the place justice. Below is the river which is crystal clear and ideal for swimming in during summer months:


This shows the tight patsh cut into the bank in places. Its hard to believe that 20 minutes away is the vibrant little town (classified a city in NZ!) of Nelson:

Me negotiating one of the swing bridges - Bernie is more fascinated by the structure holding it up than the bridge platform itself - she should have been an engineer!
