The past 4 weeks have been the most one-dimensional ever in the WWW. Not only have we been training up to 15 hours a week, but we have had several Triathlon Club meetings to decide upon the future development of our club.
New Zealand is a rugby nation, but catching up with this obsession for a silly-shaped ball is Triathlon-ing and we are having to cater for larger and larger crowds at our relatively small events.
Without boring you with details of yet more lycra and race calendars, the club is doing well and we are pleased to be able to help plan and organise events, club kit and membership despite it taking up even more of our ev er diminishing free-time.
Not only do we have to train several times a day, but we also have to spend large amounts of time preparing/fixing bikes and kit, washing mountains of sweaty clothes, cooking vast amounts of food and getting changed / showered! Needless to say we have not once watched TV for well over a month.
We take a multitude of Tupperware boxes to school each day with protein shakes, pasta meals, cake, biscuits and fruit in them. Bernie prepares most of it herself, although I do pride myself on the huge mounds of pasta I boil up each evening!
We finished work yesterday and headed off for a 2-hour ride up a lovely valley (50km round-trip) before hopping off the bike and running for an hour (about 12km), eating dinner and going to bed. We got up at 5:30 for an hour and-a-half swim (3.5km) before going to work...
The days are colder but Spring feels as though it is on the horizon already as most days are sunny and warm. September and the Gold Coast are only a few hard weeks away so pasta and pain here we go!
We're really looking forward to seeing so many people in the UK this Sept / Oct. We both hope you are all well and wish we could head over more regularly...
